The Army's lifeline. Quartermaster Soldiers feed, fuel, supply, and equip the force — ensuring every unit has what it needs to fight and win, anywhere in the world.
The 92-Series is the Army's oldest logistics branch, tracing its origins to 1775. Quartermaster Soldiers manage the supply chain that keeps the force fed, fueled, equipped, and sustained from garrison to the front lines.
The supply core of the Army. Specialists manage the logistical records, processing, and documentation that ensure the force is mission-ready.
The fuel of the force. Specialists manage the distribution of petroleum products in all environments.
The energy of the force. Culinary Specialists prepare and serve nutritious meals in all environments.
The honor of the force. Specialists manage the recovery and processing of remains with the highest standards of dignity.
The safety of the airborne force. Riggers pack and maintain the parachutes that deliver Soldiers and equipment from the sky.
The supply core of the tactical unit. Specialists manage the equipment and logistics that ensure Soldiers are mission-ready.
The pinnacle of enlisted QM leadership. 92Zs oversee supply operations and property accountability for large formations.
Junior enlisted Quartermaster Soldiers begin their career performing hands-on supply, food service, or petroleum operations. They learn the Army's logistics systems from the ground up — processing supply requests, preparing meals, or operating fuel points under the supervision of experienced NCOs.
This is the time to master your MOS, earn certifications (ServSafe, HAZMAT, GCSS-Army), and build a strong foundation for NCO leadership. QM skills translate directly to civilian careers in supply chain, food service, and logistics.
Quartermaster NCOs lead supply rooms, dining facilities, fuel sections, and logistics teams. Sergeants (E-5) supervise daily operations and train junior Soldiers, while Staff Sergeants (E-6) manage entire supply sections or dining facilities and are directly accountable for property and personnel.
Completion of BLC (Basic Leader Course) is required for E-5, and ALC (Advanced Leader Course) for E-6. QM NCOs with strong technical skills and leadership evaluations are highly competitive for promotion.
Senior QM NCOs lead sustainment operations at battalion, brigade, and division level. Sergeants First Class (E-7) serve as S-4 NCOICs or senior supply advisors. Master Sergeants/First Sergeants (E-8) lead companies and battalions as the senior enlisted advisor. Sergeants Major (E-9) serve at brigade and higher as the senior QM enlisted leader.
These positions are board-selected and highly competitive. A record of flawless property accountability, advanced logistics training, and consistent top-block evaluations are essential for selection.
Enlisted QM Soldiers with leadership potential can pursue commissioning through Officer Candidate School (OCS) for the Quartermaster Officer branch, or apply for Warrant Officer Candidate School (WOCS) to become a property accountability warrant officer. The QM branch offers both paths with distinct career tracks.
QM Officers manage logistics operations at company through division level, while Warrant Officers serve as the Army's technical experts in property accountability, supply chain management, and petroleum operations. Prior enlisted QM experience is a significant advantage in both tracks.

92F Petroleum Supply Specialists keep the Army moving. Fuel point operations, bulk distribution, quality surveillance, and environmental compliance — critical skills in both military and civilian energy sectors.
Quartermaster skills are among the most transferable to the civilian sector. Supply chain management, logistics, warehouse operations, and inventory control are in high demand across every industry.
QM promotion to E-5 averages 3-4 years. BLC completion, GCSS-Army proficiency, strong NCOERs, and additional certifications accelerate the timeline. 92Y and 92G are historically fast-promoting MOS codes.
