Physical requirements, course standards, and grading criteria for the Basic Airborne Course.
Candidates must pass a fitness assessment before beginning training. While Airborne School does not use the APFT as a formal entry gate, students are expected to maintain a high level of physical readiness throughout the course.
| Event | Standard | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 2-Mile Run | Sub 16:00 | Recommended; faster is better for daily PT |
| Push-ups | 42+ in 2 min | APFT-standard event |
| Sit-ups | 52+ in 2 min | APFT-standard event |
| Pull-ups | 6+ dead hang | Used during Ground Week training |
Airborne School uses a GO/NO-GO grading system for practical tasks. Students must demonstrate proficiency in each phase before advancing to the next. There are no written exams — evaluation is entirely performance-based.
Phase progression is mandatory: failing any phase results in recycling (repeating that phase with the next class) or dismissal. Refusal to jump at any point results in immediate removal from the course with no recycle option.
